The Bee Thread

From Rettendon on of the Spirit signs were Bees

Written by Kerry Greenaway

I have related the events that unfolded at Rettendon and the Bees being such an important message.

Now this is where divine timing comes into play and the unfolding of the message which is not seen at the time.

We cleared the Blackberry Bush at Rettendon on 24th June and saw the Bees. In the weeks that followed we were pulled to some major hub points for the Quest but on this occasion, I will stick to the Bee’s

On the 20th of July Richard and I visited Heron Hall which completed the four of us visiting – this then led us to All Saints Church in Horndon (Tyrell Family) – In the graveyard there were large beehives which was the first thing we noted at the time. However, we followed the Petre Chapel/Bolyn Thread and that led us to St Andrews in Rochford and Ingatestone Hall

On 3rd August we visited Rochford Hall St Andrews following the Bolyn thread – the main insight being an Explorer link that Richard picked up and the tale of the murdered woman. The other three of us were tied up in another area. The Explorer link led us to HMS Beagle and Paglesham

On 5th August we visited St Peters on the Wall Bradwell which felt like a personal side of the quest but did lead us to Maldon where we visited the Red Lion from the ‘James’s message’ at the Sacred Well and I was pulled towards Beeleigh Weir. On the second visit to Maldon, we went to the Moot Hall and saw scribed into the wall the name ‘Dowsett. Now William Dowsett was another renowned smuggler along with his brother John. William Dowsett’s reign over the river Crouch ended when his ship The Neptune was grounded on the Barrow Sands whilst being pursued by a Custom Cutter called Bee in 1778 (there were several ships named Bee under the customs fleet)  There are many other threads that came from the Maldon Area – Edward Bright, The Washington Window at All Saints Church, The Water Pump at Cromwell Street, The Elephant that led us to Goldhanger.

3 Bees in Beeleigh

Now this is part of the problem with a Psychic Quest; you get many threads and leads, and it’s sometimes hard to work out if it’s part of a personal part of the quest, a bit of both or purely for the Quest or even just a great experience. We have followed many avenues of research on all these threads, but nothing was seeming to gel.

However, things started to become a little clearer after our visit to Paglesham.

The HMS Beagle (please see the other articles written about the relevancy of the explorer thread and how this led us there).  In fact, this is why HMS Beagle ended up at Paglesham as Watch Vessel number 7 for the coastguard for the prevention of smuggling. This brings us to the time of 1845. However, the years before that had been dominated by William Blyth the infamous smuggler 1753-1830.

In 1840 up to 50 large oyster fishing smacks were said to have berthed from Paglesham, an ideal way to transport smuggled goods.  A large quantity of the oysters was transported to the markets in France however an awful lot were consumed in the UK. In 1851 it is estimated that half a billion oysters were sold at Billingsgate Market in London. Nowadays, Oysters have a reputation for being a luxury food however back in time they provided a cheap source of protein for the poor. The river Blackwater has been farmed for Oysters since the Roman times, but established business didn’t occur until the early 19th century before that time permission was by way of rights. It was a common occurrence for smugglers to use Oyster casks as means of transport, In The Smugglers Century by Hervey Benham it states that much of the Customs trade through Maldon involved Oysters. Now I’m not quite sure where the Oyster will lead because as always this is still unfolding, but I do feel a pull London bound.

This is not the first time a pull to London has reared its head;

James Tyrell is buried at Austin Friars. He was beheaded at Tower Hill for his part in the murder of the two princes in the Tower. What is strange is what has come to light recently is a necklace of one of the princes was referenced in a will by Magaret Capell, the half-sister to James Tyrells wife Anne, it is unknown where this chain is now.

Thomas Cromwell’s House had lodgings at Austin Friars along with many other notable Tudor court officials.

Back in the 14th century and through the reformation, the area of Austin Friars was the hub of the new theologies. Fringe religions such as the Lollards had been driven underground but with the rise of the King’s split from Rome, these sects raised their heads in the Austin Friars area. It’s interesting to note that the lodging houses for the aristocracy were based here in this theological melting pot. What we do know is that in 1386, Lollards inflamed by a sermon in a nearby church stormed Austin Friars, and it was saved just in the nick of time by the Local Sherriff.

Also, the illegitimate children of the King have kept raising their heads. The first was Henry Fitzroy at Blackmore and at Austin Friars, Perkins Warbeck who alleged he was the youngest of the two princes in the Tower is buried at Austin Friars.

Initially when researching Beeleigh, a copy of the book we wanted was only to be found at the British Library, we had all seen it being sold on Amazon for £395 but when we looked at a later date the price was normal for the book which we then acquired and had a phenomenal piece of validation. Divine Timing????

Also, an artifact came to light in the local ‘well’ area – half of a fish statue – is this a sign to go to Billingsgate Fish Market???  The latest sign from spirit was a Heron flying towards the Oysterfleet Hotel – another sign for Oysters which led me to look at the boat fleets – Paglesham and Leigh on Sea were key.

And lastly, whilst I was writing this, I popped over onto google to fact check a detail, and the picture was of the Phoenix Pub on the corner of Throgmorton Street and Broad Street, and this was where the main entrance to where the Friary used to be. Is this where the Quest rises like Phoenix from the Flames – we shall see………….
